Padma means lotus. When the asana is done, the body acquires a lotus-like shape, so this asana is called 'Padmasana'(Lotus Pose). Padmasana is the main seat for meditation and japa and is equally beneficial for both men and women.

Method:

First sit on the ground with legs extended. Then place the right foot on the left thigh and the left foot on the right thigh. If the right foot cannot be placed first, the action may be started with the left foot. Place the left hand on the left knee and the right hand on the right knee. Keep the spine and head in a straight line. Close your eyes and meditate.

Many people can not manage this pose easily but don't loose your hope and practice regularly. after some days of practice you can manage it easily.
